Itinerary:

DAY 1 SINGAPORE – (VIA KUNMING) XI’AN (LUNCH/DINNER)

Stay at comparable to local 4-star Xi’an Orient Hotel or similar Assemble at Singapore Changi Airport for your flight to Xi’an (via Kunming),formerly known as Chang An City during ancient times. Upon arrival, we will visit The Qin Terracotta Museum. This is a major discovery of China’s archaeological history as well as one of the World’s wonders. There are thousands pieces of the terracotta warriors and horses unearthed and they are of the same size as a real person or a real horse.

DAY 2 XI’AN – XINING – QINGHAI LAKE (160km) – XINING (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
Stay at comparable local 4-star Qinghai Holiday Dynasty Hotel or similar After breakfast, we will take a domestic flight to Xining. Xining is a highland ancient city with more than 2100 years of history and was formerly known as the “south railway for the Silk Road”. It’s also an important hub for trains entering Tibet. Thereafter, we will be travelling along the ancient route into Tibet which was used by Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty. Along the way you can view Mt Moon and Sun, the Sun Pavilion and the Moon Pavilion. Thereafter, we will travel to Qinghai Lake which is the largest saltwater lake in China with an area of 4500 square kilometers. We will take a boat ride on the lake, which is surrounded by snowcapped mountains and lush greenery. Qinghai Lake’s emerald green water completes the picturesque scenery. Note: 1. Boat ride at Qinghai Lake is not available from November till April due to drastic weather condition.

DAY 3 XINING – QINGHAI TIBET RAILWAY (BREAKFAST/LUNCH)
Train: 6 bed hard sleeper After breakfast, we will rest in the hotel room to adapt to the highland climate. Thereafter, we will meet up and proceed to the Xining train station. You will be travelling by train on the Qinghai Tibet Railway-highest altitude in the world, towards Lhasa.

DAY 4 QINGHAI TIBET RAILWAY – LHASA – NIGHT ARRIVALS IN LHASA
Stay at comparable to local 5-star Lhasa Hotel or similar It will be a whole day train journey heading towards Lhasa on the Qinghai Tibet Railway which is the world’s highest railway, passing through Xining, Ge’ermu, Tuotuo River, Anduo, Naqu, Dangxiong and finally Lhasa. All meals on board the train will be at own expense. Upon arrival in Lhasa, we will require ample rest in order to acclimatize to the high altitude. Lhasa is an ancient city with 1300 years of history; it is also the hub of Tibetan Politics, Economy, Culture and Religion. Special: Meet on arrival with Tibetan Ha’Da

DAY 5 LHASA – POTALA PALACE – JOKHANG TEMPLE – BARKHOR STREET (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
Stay at comparable to local 5-star Lhasa Hotel or similar This morning we will visit the landmark of Lhasa – the Potala Palace. Potala in Sanskrit means sacred place of the Goddess of Mercy. It is an ancient palace with castle-style architectures and the highest altitude. We will be viewing the Winter Palace within the Potala Palace. It is also the Tibetan Political Centre and residence for previous Dalai Lamas since the seventh century AD. We will visit the ancient Jokhang Temple, which is the sacred place in the eye of all Tibetan Buddhist. Thereafter, we visit the most bustling handicraft market of Lhasa - the Barkhor Street, for some exotic handicraft souvenirs. This evening we will savour the special highland mushroom steamboat cuisine for dinner.

DAY 6 LHASA – YAMDROKTSO LAKE – GYANTSE – SHIGATSE (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
Stay at comparable to local 4-star Shigatse Jiumu Yamei Int’l Hotel or similar Today we will set off from Lhasa, climbing over the Kambala Snow Mountain with an altitude of 4900 meters to visit the Yamdroktso Lake – the world’s highest altitude fresh water lake, also known as the sacred lake in the sky. Thereafter, along the way we will see a majestic roadside view of the Nojin Kangtsang Glacier and Gyantse that is surrounding the Yamdroktso Lake. It is also the outdoor filming scene of the “Valley of the Red River”. Next, we will visit the Palkor Monastery, which consists of the 3 major Tibetan religion groups in one monastery. It is also well known for its exquisite murals and carvings. We may also see the Zongshan anti-British Ruins from afar before we proceed to Shigatse.

Day 7 SHIGATSE – TASHILUNPO MONASTERY – DINGRI (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
Stay at comparable to local 2-star Dingri Hotel or similar Today we will visit the Tashilunpo Monastery, where Panchen Lama lays in peace and is also one of the 6 major monasteries for Tibetan Yellow Sect. This monastery was built by the first Panchen Lama in 1447 and thereafter became the residence of all the subsequent Panchen Lama. There is a world tallest Mi’le Buddha statue, which is 28 meters tall, in the monastery. We will also see the Stupa-tomb of the Tenth Panchen Lama here. Thereafter, we will travel towards Dingri via a 4-wheeler jeep.

Day 8 DINGRI – RONGBUK MONASTERY – MT EVEREST BASE CAMP – SHIGATSE (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
Stay at comparable to local 4-star Shigatse Jiumu Yamei Int’l Hotel or similar After breakfast, we will proceed to the border’s check point for documentation clearance before we arrive at Rongbuk Monastery, which has the highest altitude in the world. This 100 over years old monastery was built by the Red Tibetan Sect which had strong faith in the Nyingma religion. The main hall is decorated with Buddha statues of Sakyamuni and Padmasambhava. Next, we will proceed to Mt Everest Base Camp which is the nearest point to view the World’s highest mountain – Mt Everest has an altitude of 8844 meters above sea level. Over there, you will not only see the world’s most intact and most well preserved Rongbuk Glacier, you might also get to see the Everest Kiun which symbolizes the Fire of Life waving at you. As night falls, the summit of Mt Everest will glitter in the night just like the crown of the Goddess. You may sit back and enjoy the top of the world where the starry night is within reach. Next, we will coach over to Mt Jiawula which has an altitude of 5200 meters to return to Dingri.

Day 9 DINGRI – SHIGATSE – LHASA (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
Stay at comparable to local 5-star Lhasa Hotel or similar We will cruise along the Himalayan Mountains while enjoying the snow scenery of the highlands. You will also see lots of Tibetan streamers and Tibetan Mani Piles along the way. We will be travelling on the China-Nepal highway, making our way back to Lhasa whilst enjoying the scenery of Brahmaputra’s grassland and valleys, and the desert Tibet. Upon arrival in Lhasa, we will visit the Thangka Art Center.

Day 10 LHASA – LAKE NAMTSO* – LHASA (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)
Stay at comparable to local 5-star Lhasa Hotel or similar This morning we will take a coach ride to Lake Namtso, which is known as the mighty lake of Tibet. It is one of the 3 sacred lakes of Tibet and also renowned as a holy lake in Tibetan Buddhism. With its good quality pastures along the lakeside, it is a natural ranch. You may also see the peak of Mt Tanggula which is covered in snow all year round. Note: In the event that we are unable to visit Lake Namtso due to drastic weather condition, it will be replaced by Derpung Monastery and Past Dalai Lama’s treasured park - Norbulingka Palace.

DAY 11 MT YAOWANG SHAN (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)

This morning we will tour Mt Yaowang Shan. There’s a special grotto temple at the East side of the mountain which is named
“Zala Lupu”. Despite enduring a thousand years of rain and shine, the temple is surprisingly still in good condition. There are 69
stone inscriptions and 66 stone statues in the cave. The grotto is extremely dim and the butter lamp is the only source of light.

Day 12 LHASA – KUNMING (OR XI’AN*) (BREAKFAST/MEALS ON BOARD)
After breakfast, you will have some leisure time before we proceed to Gongga airport for the flight back to Singapore via Kunming. *Note: If flight confirmation by China Eastern Airline, Day 9 from Lhasa to Xi’an, we will stay at Xi’an local 4-star hotel. Day 10 we will tour the Ancient Wall which was built on the basis of the Tang Dynasty great wall. Currently, this is the largest and most well kept castle-style architecture. Thereafter, we will visit the Bell and Drum Tower Square and the Imitate Ancient Street. Lastly, we will proceed to Xi’an airport for the flight back to Singapore.

1. Passengers with high blood pressure or heart problems are advised to consult a doctor before joining tour.

3. Itinerary may be reverse due to air seats or train tickets availability. Example:Fly to Lhasa or Kathmandu,travel by train from Lhasa to Xining.

5. Nepal Visa (for reference only): Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia passport holders may apply for Nepal Visa on arrival at the Zhangmu entry point under normal circumstances. The visa fee is US$25 – US$30 per person and requires 2 colour photographs. China passport holder will need to apply for Nepal visa in Singapore before departure.
